In the absence of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, everyone searched for Prithvi Shaw’s name on the squad list as an opener. However, the explosive Mumbai batter once again failed to clear the cut-off.

In the last couple of seasons, Prithvi Shaw has been one of the most consistent batters in domestic cricket across the formats. The pocket dynamite has amassed 285 runs in 8 matches at an average of 47.50 and a strike rate of 191.27 in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Yet the selectors didn’t pick the youngster in the absence of the senior openers. As things stand, the youngster will have to keep knocking on the national door by piling up more runs.
