As per the latest developments, Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni has confirmed that we will play next year and will lead the side too. As per a report from ESPNCricinfo, the 40-year-old has told the team management about his decision already.
On Friday evening, Chennai Super Kings are up against Rajasthan Royals in the 68th match of the IPL 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. It will be the last game of the season for the Yellow Army as the defending champions failed to qualify for the champions. For the same reason, many fans were speculating that it could be the last game of their favourite superstar MS Dhoni in the CSK jersey. However, the legendary captain has now cleared the air regarding his future.
MS Dhoni confirmed that he will play for CSK next year
When MSD walked out for the toss against Rajasthan Royals, he was asked if it was the last time he is donning the Yellow jersey. Thala was quick to reply that it would be unfair for the CSK fans if he retires without playing in front of the home crowd.
“Definitely (Whether he’ll play next year), because it will be unfair not to say thank you to Chennai. Won’t be nice to do that to CSK fans,” said Dhoni.
Earlier, MS Dhoni was asked the same question against Sunrisers Hyderabad to which the legendary skipper gave a cryptic answer.
“You’ll definitely see me in the yellow jersey – whether it’s this yellow jersey or some other yellow jersey you will have to wait and watch,” said Dhoni earlier this season.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni has been in a fine form with the willow this season and he has looked sharper than ever with his running between the wickets. MSD has scored a total of 206 runs in 12 innings at an average of almost 129.
After getting the confirmation, the fans could not hide their excitement as Twitter erupted with reactions from all corners.

I had thought that MSD might call it a day after IPL 2021 but I had no doubt this year that he was coming back for IPL 2023.
