Former Indian captain Virat Kohli is part of the ongoing Test series against Sri Lanka. The 33-year-old came out to bat at No.4 where he got a rousing reception from the fans at the stadium in Mohali. The right-handed batsman looked comfortable from the word go.
Kohli and Hanuma Vihari took Sri Lanka’s bowling attack to the cleaners by playing smartly. The duo rotated strike at the right time and scored boundaries with ease. They added a vital 90-run liaison for the third wicket before Kohli departed for 45.
Virat Kohli batted really well by building his innings with the help of 5 boundaries. He was just 5 runs shy of scoring a half-century. However, Lasith Embuldeniya got the prized wicket of Kohli. The former Indian captain failed to make it big this time.

During the 43rd over of India’s first innings, Lasith Embuldeniya pitched in a fuller-length ball around Kohli’s off-stump. As it happened, it just spun across Virat Kohli’s willow and then the ball did all the magic by crashing his stumps.

Everyone in the stands was left disappointed after Virat Kohli departed for 45. Surprisingly, Indian captain, Rohit Sharma was seen applauding the former Indian captain. This took the Indian cricket fraternity by surprise.
Kohli ended up scoring 45 runs from 76 balls during his stay at the crease. He might not have made a big impact in the first innings, he will look to do well in the second innings. At the moment, India is in a decent position.
Hanuma Vihari departed after scoring 58 runs including 5 fours. Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant added a fifty-plus stand for the fifth wicket before Iyer was dismissed on 27. At the time of writing this article, Pant scored 33* while Jadeja is batting on 1*. India posted 234/5 in 63 overs.
