Irfan Pathan reacts to criticism after taking an indirect dig at MS Dhoni

Irfan Pathan

Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan is currently in the United Arab Emirates doing Hindi commentary in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. Besides his commentary, he is quite active on social media platform. The former Indian cricketer doesn’t shy away from expressing his views and opinions on his official Twitter account.

After every IPL match, Irfan Pathan chips in with a tweet. Recently, CSK suffered three defeats on the trot and Irfan Pathan posted a cryptic tweet which took everyone by surprise. Soon after CSK lost to SRH, Irfan Pathan took an indirect dig at former Indian captain MS Dhoni over ‘Age is just a number’ message.

Though Age is just a number for some cricketers like MS Dhoni, Irfan Pathan added that same ‘Age’ was a reason for the other talented cricketers to be dropped. Irfan’s message comes right after CSK captain MS Dhoni struggled to take his team despite remaining unbeaten at the crease. During the game, MS Dhoni found it really tough to run between the wickets due to the heat in the overseas conditions.

After MS Dhoni struggled to keep up, several fans felt that MS Dhoni has already past his prime. Irfan Pathan’s tweet gave us a clear-cut indication that he was excluded from the Indian national cricket team despite bagging the Player of the Match award in his last game he played for the team. Since then, the all-rounder never represented for India again. Before retiring from the game, Irfan Pathan plied his trade for Jammu & Kashmir while also served as the mentor for the team.

Irfan Pathan responds to criticism

Irfan Pathan’s tweet trended on Twitter after MS Dhoni’s fans criticised him for his cryptic tweet. The former Indian cricketer who came across all the comments came up with another tweet. “Sirf Do line mein sir ghum gaye, puri kitaab padhne par chakkar bhi aaega;) #lovingit,” he wrote in his tweet. (Translating it to English – Only two lines have turned a lot of heads, you will faint after reading the whole book).

Soon after Irfan Pathan’s first tweet, Indian veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh agreed with his former teammate. “10000000 per cent agree with you @IrfanPathan,” he wrote in his tweet. Meanwhile, the off-spinner is not playing in the ongoing IPL in the UAE as he backed out of the tournament citing personal reasons.
