IPL 2024: 3 Players CSK can sign as Devon Conway’s replacement

Chennai Super Kings were dealt with a big blow after their marquee player Devon Conway was ruled out of the upcoming IPL 2024 until May. The New Zealand international injured his thumb in the second T20I against Australia at home in Auckland, which forced him to leave the field for scans as a precautionary measure.

Fortunately, the scan reports confirmed that he was free from any fracture. However, he was advised to undergo surgery with immediate effect. Conway underwent surgery recently and is expected to be ruled out of action for at least 8 weeks.

The recovery period will take time and it is quite clear that he won’t be available for more than half of the IPL 2024. There is no telling that he might not even feature in the upcoming tournament as well. CSK haven’t named the replacement yet and let’s look at the three players who can replace Devon Conway.

1. Ryan Rickelton

Ryan Rickelton who plays for MI Cape Town in the SA20 tournament is one of the options CSK should consider as a replacement for Devon Conway. The left-handed batsman set the SA20 2024 competition on fire with his fearless brand of cricket.

His attacking approach is something that CSK requires in the top order. Ryan ended up as the leading run-getter in South Africa’s premier T20 competition. He aggregated 530 runs in 10 games at an average of 58.89 and a healthy strike rate of 173.77.
