IPL 2023: Predicted XI of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the season

RCB will be eager to lift their maiden IPL title.

Royal Challengers Bangalore are one of the top teams in the cash-rich Indian Premier League. Ever since the inception of the IPL, RCB have been trying their maximum best to make a daring statement in most of the seasons. However, they lacked the killer instinct and the cutting edge in the clutch moments of the game, which put them on the back foot in the crucial fixtures of the competition.

RCB booked their berth in the finals of the competition on three occasions in IPL 2009, 2011 and 2016 seasons respectively. Needless to say, they lost to Deccan Chargers, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final. They are also the only team that failed to win the IPL title even after making it to the final on three occasions. RCB will hope to put an end to their title drought in IPL 2023.

In fact, they do have the right players at their disposal who are capable of causing all sorts of problems to the opposition teams. In the last season, they finished fourth on the points table and qualified for the playoffs. Moreover, they knocked the newly-inducted franchise, Lucknow Super Giants out of the competition in the Eliminator. Now, let’s take a look at the predicted XI of RCB for the IPL 2023 season.

Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli will open the proceedings for RCB in the upcoming season. Even RCB’s Director of Cricket Operations, Mike Hesson had earlier dropped a hint regarding the same. Both batters will be looking forward to bringing a wealth of experience to the table. RCB team management will rely on the duo’s performance throughout the season.

It is quintessential for the team to get off to a blistering start in the IPL. Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli are certain to lead the batting attack by example. Faf du Plessis has played as many as 116 games in the IPL wherein he scored 3403 runs at an average of 34.37 and a strike rate of 130.58. On top of that, he scored as many as 25 fifties to his name.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli is one of the players to watch out for in the upcoming season of the IPL. He is the leading run-scorer in the history of the IPL. He has accumulated a record 6624 runs at an average of 36.2. Besides that, he has maintained a strike rate of 129.15. Notably, he has slammed as many as five centuries and 44 half-centuries to his name.
