Shubman Gill has been in some form this IPL season as the Punjab-born lad has been hitting the boundaries on and off the ground. The Gujarat Titans’ opener Shubman Gill shut down the trolls in style with a brilliant tweet after playing a match-winning knock in the game between his team and Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday night.

In the game between Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans, the MCA Stadium, Pune offered a tricky surface to bat on. It has a lot of purchase for the bowlers, and the batters had a difficult time in the middle. However, Shubman Gill managed to score the only half-century in the game as the young led opened the batting for the Titans and remained unbeaten till the end.

The 22-year old began his innings slowly and built it sensibly while wickets were tumbling around him. However, he kept the one end intact and scored an unbeaten 63 runs off 49 deliveries to take his side to a fighting total of 144/4 in 20 overs.

In the end, the total proved more than enough for LSG as Gujarat Titans won the game by 62 runs to seal the place in the playoffs, and Gill deservingly won the player of the match award.

After the conclusion of the first innings, the trolls targeted the Gujarat Titans’ opener and accused him of playing a selfish knock. They thought the ‘lacklustre’ approach of Shubman Gill had cost the Titans a place in the playoffs. However, once the formidable batting unit of Lucknow Super Giants were bundled out for a paltry total of 82 runs, the people realised the value of Gill’s knock on the difficult track.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill didn’t hold back against his trolls as he epically answered them. Reacting to his criticism, the youngster put up two emojis – a tortoise and a hare – to convey his message, “Slow and steady wins the race.”

“Always pleasing when you’re there till the end and finish the game for your team. I didn’t expect the ball to seam as much at the start. It was nipping around, and then I expected the spinners to get some turn,” said Shubman Gill after the match.
