IND vs ENG 2024: 3 positives for Team India to take away from third Test match
Team India registered a comprehensive victory against England in the third Test match. They won the game by 434 runs and now lead the series 2-1 with two matches still to go.
The management would be delighted with the team’s incredible performance. Here are three positives to take away for the Men in the Blue from the third Test match against the English side.
Inexperienced batters contributing runs
The rise of youngsters in the Indian batting unit is one of the reasons behind the team’s success. In the absence of senior players like Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Chesteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane, the young bloods have stood up tall.
While Yashasvi Jaiswal justified the hype around him by scoring another double-century, Sarfaraz Khan showcased that he belongs to the highest level. He was fantastic with the bat in both the innings and grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
Even debutant wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel was impressive under immense pressure. He scored 46 runs in the first innings while he didn’t get to bat in the next innings. With the gloves, he had a perfect game and collected the throw neatly to run out Ben Duckett.
Bowlers taking responsiblity in the absence of Ravi Ashwin
The Indian bowlers were dominated by the English batters on the second day. After having England at 182 for 2 at one stage, they bounced back on the next day and bundled them out for just 319 to secure a good lead.
The performance becomes more applaudable when one considers the absence of Ravi Ashwin in the lineup. The spinner had left the group to attend his mother, who was rushed to hospital due to a medical emergency.
So to perform like that without having the services of pioneer spinner Ashwin is incredible. All the boys stepped up to bowl longer spells and restricted the opponents within an acceptable total.
Rise of all-rounder Kuldeep Yadav
Kuldeep Yadav has been impressive in his short red-ball career so far. In 10 Tests, he has already picked 42 wickets at an average of 22.85. Not only that, his batting skills have also improved a lot.
In the second innings of the third match, Kuldeep scored 27 runs off 91 deliveries, including three fours and a six. It shows that he is turning into a valuable all-rounder.
With time, he can improve further and be included in the side as a bowling all-rounder, just like Ravi Ashwin. It will help the Indian side add depth to their batting line-up while maintaining the quality of the bowling battery.
