Akash Deep is another strong contender to replace Jasprit Bumrah in the main lineup. He has been troubling batters in the domestic circuit for a couple of years and has huge potential.
The young pacer has a strong seam position that helps him swing the ball and unsettle the batters. He has the experience of handling the new ball with his RCB fellow Mohammed Siraj.
However, Deep has yet to play a match for the national team. It will be interesting to see if the management takes the risk to play an inexperienced bowler in such a high-profile match.
3) Washington Sundar
An out-of-box option, Rohit Sharma & Co. can opt for Washington Sundar as the replacement. If they find the Ranchi pitch a rank turner, the Indian side might prefer playing an extra spinner.
The spinners ran riot against the English batters in the third Test match, bundling them for just 122. The addition of him in the lineup will add depth to the spin department.
Washington can also bowl with the new ball as he has been doing for his domestic team. Not only bowling but the all-rounder will also come in handy with the bat.
