The playoff of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) got underway on Tuesday, May 23 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk. The Gujarat Titans are taking on the Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 1 of the tournament. The winner of the match will book a direct place in the final of the tournament. This match also marks the beginning of a new initiative by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

During the Gujarat Titans vs Chennai Super Kings Qualifier 1 match, the dot balls were represented by trees in the graphics section. The viewers were puzzled by the change in the graphics. According to sources, the change denotes the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) wonderful initiative of planting trees. The Board will plant 500 trees for every dot ball bowled in the 2023 Indian Premier League playoffs. With this initiative, they aim to spread awareness among people across the globe.

Chennai Super Kings start cautiously against Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1

The Chennai Super Kings got off to a cautious start against the Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk. Openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway put up an 87 runs stand for the first wicket in around ten overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad slammed 60 runs off 44 deliveries, with seven boundaries and a six. He got out to Mohit Sharma, as he holed out to David Miller at long-on.

Noor Ahmed provided the Titans with their second crucial breakthrough immediately. He sent the in-form Shivam Dube back into the hut for a solitary run. The Chennai Super Kings are 90 for the loss of two wickets in around twelve overs. Devon Conway was at the crease with Ajinkya Rahane. Earlier in the match, Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bowl first. He expressed that the chase will be easy at the ground, with dew coming in at the Chepauk Stadium.
