“Happy Birthday Captain” – Wishes pour in for Rohit Sharma on his 35th birthday
India skipper Rohit Sharma turned 35 today, and wishes poured in from every corner for one of India’s favourite sons. Rohit is currently leading the Mumbai Indians in the ongoing 15th edition of the IPL.
The elegant batter was recently appointed the skipper of the Indian side in all formats after Virat Kohli stepped down from the captaincy. The Hitman is a modern-day great and one of the best white-ball batters the world cricket has ever witnessed.
His journey has been inspiring as the right-hander batter transformed himself into a destructive opener from a struggling middle-order batter. Rohit Sharma has amassed 9283 runs in 230 ODIs at an average of 48.6, including 29 centuries and three double-centuries. The Hitman also holds the record of the highest individual score in the ODIs, with a knock of 264 that came against Sri Lanka.
Moreover, Sharma has scored 3137 runs in 45 Tests at an average of 46.13, while he also has racked up 3313 runs in 125 T20Is, including four centuries.
Rohit Sharma is currently spending time with his family in the IPL 2022 bio-bubble, leading the Mumbai-based franchise in the tournament. However, it has been a terrible season for the five-time champions as they already are crashed out of the competition.
Mumbai Indians are yet to open their account this season after losing eight consecutive matches so far. On Saturday, they will be up against Rajasthan Royals and if Mumbai Indians could present their skipper with a win on his birthday still remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, the whole cricket fraternity came together on Saturday to send best of the wishes to the Indian skipper on his 35th birthday.
ICC sent the wishes early to Rohit Sharma
In an interesting incident, the ICC was the first to celebrate the birthday of the Indian skipper as they sent the tweet on the 29th April. The fans quickly pointed out the mistake that forced ICC to amend the mistakes. However, they did not miss the birthday today and subsequently wished Rohit Sharma a very happy birthday.
