“Finisher is back” – Twitter explodes as Dinesh Karthik finishes in style to win the 2nd T20I against Australia
Dinesh Karthik’s place in the Indian team has been a hot topic of debate ever since his comeback. He has been assigned the role of a finisher in the current Indian T20I setup and has already been selected for the Indian T20I World Cup squad. After sitting out in most of the games during the Asia Cup 2022, the wicketkeeper-batter found a place in the playing XI in the T20Is against Australia. While Dinesh Karthik didn’t get a chance to bat in the first game, he proved his utility in the 2nd T20I to finish and win the game for Men in Blue.
India and Australia locked horns in the 2nd T20 game of the three-match series at the VCA Stadium, Nagpur on Friday. Rain Gods threatened the game as the game was delayed for a long time courtesy of a wet outfield. However, in the end, an 8-over game was played in the end. The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma invited Aaron Finch & co. to bat first after winning the toss.
Axar Patel was brilliant with the ball for Team India as the left-arm spinner clinched two vital wickets in his two overs while giving away only 13 runs. Aaron Finch and Matthew Wade played vital knocks for Australia as their team posted a fighting total of 90/5 in 8 overs.

Chasing the total to level the series, the Hitman and KL Rahul gave India a brisk start as the duo added 39 runs for the first wicket inside the first three overs. After KL was gone, India lost wickets at one end but the skipper kept smashing the Aussie bowlers at one end. He took the game deep as he was joined by the finisher Dinesh Karthik in the middle. With team India requiring 9 runs in the final over, DK smashed a maximum and a boundary on the first two deliveries to seal the game. The skipper returned unbeaten for 46 runs off 20 deliveries as India registered a 6-wicket victory to level the series.
The fans were elated to see Dinesh Karthik finishing the game once again and they took social media to register their joy.
