In a major setback to the Indian team ahead of the rescheduled Test against England, the skipper Rohit Sharma has tested positive for COVID-19. With only four days left in the game, it is troubling news for Team India as the Hitman has been India’s leading run-scorer in the five-match series that began last year.

If Rohit Sharma fails to recover in time, it will be a massive blow to the visitors and their aspirations to lift the trophy on the English soil. The BCCI provided an update on the Indian skipper with an official tweet a few hours ago.

“UPDATE – #TeamIndia Captain Mr. Rohit Sharma has tested positive for COVID-19 following a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) conducted on Saturday. He is currently in isolation at the team hotel and is under the care of the BCCI Medical Team,” informed the BCCI through their official Twitter account.

Sharma participated in the warm-up game against Leicestershire and scored 25 runs in the first innings. However, he didn’t come out to bat in the 2nd innings. And, now it is a waiting game for the team management to see if Rohit is able to recover fully from the COVID-19 in time.

“Nice reason to hide injury!” – Fans troll Rohit Sharma

Fans were already speculating an injury to the Indian skipper when he didn’t come out to open in the 2nd innings of the practice game. Now, there are serious doubts over his availability for the vital game. The majority of the fans are praying for his good health and are hopeful that the Hitman will recover in time.

Meanwhile, some fans have trolled Rohit Sharma for his history of injuries and missing a few crucial series in the past. They are asking the BCCI to appoint Virat Kohli as the skipper of the Indian team in the fifth and the final Test against England.
