On Monday, Narayan Jagadeesan etched his name in history by becoming the first-ever batter in world cricket to score five consecutive centuries in List A cricket. He surpassed the likes of Kumar Sangakkara, Alviro Petersen, and Devdutt Padikkal, the batters with four consecutive List-A centuries.

Narayan Jagadeesan also broke the record for the highest-ever score by a batter in List A cricket as the dashing right-handed batter played a stupendous knock of 277 runs off just 141 deliveries. This unstoppable form has come at the right time for the Tamil Nadu batter as the IPL franchises will be keenly monitoring his progress.

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings will be feeling pretty upset as they let the batter go ahead of the IPL 2023 auctions. Narayan Jagadeesan has been a part of the CSK setup for a while now but the right-handed batter didn’t get many opportunities for the four-time champions. The Men in Yellow have a settled opening pair in Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway and hence, Jagadeesan mostly warms the bench in the CSK camp. In his IPL career, Jagadeesan has played only 7 matches, where he has scored 73 runs in 4 innings at a strike rate of 110.61.

Narayan Jagadeesan plays a memorable knock and breaks a couple of world records in the process

On Monday, Tamil Nadu are up against Arunachal Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 game at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Arunachal Pradesh won the toss and invited the opposition to bat first. What followed next was absolute mayhem as Naryan Jagadeesan and B Sai Sudharsan stitched a record partnership for the first wicket.

The duo added 416 runs in 38.3 overs for the first wicket before B Sai Sudharsan was dismissed for a well-compiled 154 runs off 102 deliveries. Meanwhile, Narayan Jagadeesan brought up his 5th consecutive century in the ongoing competition to break the world record of maximum consecutive List A centuries.

Furthermore, he also registered the highest-ever individual List A score as he went past Ali Brown (268 runs) with a whirlwind knock of 277 runs off 141 deliveries. Jagadeesan’s knock included 25 boundaries and a whopping 15 maximums.

The fans were pretty impressed with Narayan Jagadeesan’s batting as they mocked Chennai Super Kings for releasing the batter ahead of the IPL 2023. Many predicted that the batter will be sold for a massive amount in the auctions and it will now be difficult for MS Dhoni & co. to buy him back.
