While playing a World Cup game remains a priority for every cricketer, there have been some weird instances where a player has missed a World Cup game or the whole tournament courtesy of an unusual reason. In this post, we will talk about five players and the weird reasons that forced them to miss World Cup games.

    5. Shimron Hetmyer – Missed the flight (T20 World Cup 2022)

With the seniors already retired, West Indies are looking to get back to their best in the shorter format of the game. The team from the Caribbean had high hopes for their attacking middle-order batter Shimron Hetmyer. However, the left-handed southpaw missed his flight to Australia despite rescheduling. The West Indies cricket board has now taken action against the batter and dropped him from the World Cup squad.

    4. Ravindra Jadeja – Injured himself while doing adventurous activity (T20 World Cup 2022)

Ravindra Jadeja is a pivotal player in India’s white-ball set-up. His ability with the bat provides a much-needed balance to the Indian set-up. However, the star all-rounder reportedly injured himself while skateboarding during the 2022 Asia Cup. The all-rounder had to go through surgery following the injury and had to miss out on India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2022.
