What a player Joe Root is!!! The former English skipper is an epitome of consistency and with the way he has been scoring runs, he is motoring ahead towards the great Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most Test runs.
On Sunday, Joe Root slammed another century in the ongoing Test between England and New Zealand at the Trent Bridge, Nottingham. The English batter was coming to this game after a match-winning unbeaten century at the iconic Lord’s in the first Test.
England and New Zealand are currently up against in the 2nd Test of the three-match series at the Trent Bridge. England entered this game with a 1-0 lead after a morale-boosting victory in the Lord’s test.
Batting first, the visitors looked determined to tire the hosts as New Zealand posted a massive total of 553 in the first innings. The all-rounder Daryl Mitchell played a wonderful knock of 190 runs and missed his double-century just by 10 runs. He received ample support on the other end from the wicketkeeper, Tom Blundell, as the wicketkeeper also scored a century.
In reply, Zak Crawley got out early but Ollie Pope and Alex Lees added 141 runs for the 2nd wicket. In the process, Ollie Pope also completed a beautiful century before getting out.
Joe Root maintains the unreal consistency to score a magnificent century
It is time for back-to-back centuries as Root has scored another hundred, his 2nd of the series. The right-handed batter stitched a vital partnership of 187 runs for the 3rd wicket alongside Ollie Pope.
Root entered the arena after the fall of Alex Lees and picked up from where he left in the Lord’s test. The Yorkshire batter has now registered another century to take his team closer to the mammoth total.
At the time of writing, Joe Root is batting at a score of 113 runs and he is trying to build a partnership with the skipper Ben Stokes.

Until a few years ago, I used to rate Joe Root as the weakest in the Fab 4 debate, like many others and even some experts. But have to give it to him. This form is scary!!

At this point Joe Root should just be banned from playing test cricket. It's just not fair to the bowlers or other batters. #ENGvsNZ

And to think that people were writing of Joe root a few years back. Pfft. What a class act. Head and shoulders above everyone in the fab 4, the last couple of years. Not even fair to make a comparison. Has every gear, every shot, and most importantly the clarity.#EngNZ
