“Best match of the IPL 2022” – Twitter goes berserk as Lucknow Super Giants steal a two-run victory to qualify for the playoffs

Phew! What a game of cricket!! The encounter wasn’t certainly for the weak-hearted. So many ups and downs, so many momentum shifts, nail-biting, nerves-wrecking, but Lucknow Super Giants managed to steal the win with the narrowest of the margins.

Lucknow Super Giants defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by two runs to qualify for the playoffs, while the KKR are crashed out of the competition.

On Wednesday, Kolkata Knight Riders were up against Lucknow Super Giants in the 66th game of the IPL 2022. A lot was on the line as it was a must-win game for both teams. While LSG were looking to qualify for the playoffs, KKR needed to win this match to stay alive in the tournament.

Lucknow Super Giants’ skipper KL Rahul won the toss and chose to bat first. The captain alongside his partner Quinton de Kock produced an opening partnership for ages as both openers returned unbeaten after 20 overs. Quinton de Kock had a night to remember as the left-handed southpaw scored unbeaten 140 runs off 70 deliveries. Meanwhile, KL Rahul played second-fiddle to his partner and returned unbeaten with 68 runs off 51 deliveries.

Both openers stitched the best opening partnership in the history of the IPL as both giants added unbeaten 210 runs for the first wicket.

Rinku Singh threatens to take the game away from Lucknow Super Giants

Chasing the total, Kolkata Knight Riders lost two early wickets but Nitish Rana and Shreyas Iyer counter-attacked the opposition. However, the two-time champions kept losing wickets at regular intervals. When the men in purple lost Andre Russell the game looked done and dusted for the KKR.

However, Rinku Singh and Sunil Narine refused to give up. Singh scored 40 runs off 15 deliveries to snatch the win from the jaws of the defeat. with 21 runs required off the final over, Rinku Singh smashed 4,6,6 off the first three deliveries of Marcus Stoinis’ over.

However, the Aussie all-rounder dismissed Singh and bowled Umesh Yadav on the very next ball to win a thriller for his side.

The fans could not catch their breath after the game as Twitter exploded with mixed reactions.
