BCCI announces contract extension, Rahul Dravid to continue as chief coach
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken a significant step that might shape the future of Indian cricket. The richest cricket body made the headlines after the members of the board announced the contract extension for the head coach, meaning that Rahul Dravid will continue to contribute as the chief coach.
Earlier, there were reports of Rahul Dravid contemplating stepping down as the head coach after his tenure came to an end following the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023. With India losing to Australia in the final showdown, it triggered a spate of doubts as to whether BCCI would consider extending Rahul Dravid’s contract.
With VVS Laxman appointed as the interim coach of the ongoing five-match T20I series against Australia, speculations were rife that he is set to take over the reins from Rahul Dravid. Nevertheless, the BCCI put all those speculations to bed by extending the contract of Rahul Dravid.
