BAN vs IND 2022: Predicting India’s XI for first Test match

Team India will want to clinch the Test series against losing out on the ODI series.

Team India recently locked horns with the Bangladesh cricket team in the three-match ODI series. The first two games ended in favor of Litton Das and Co. Bangladesh won the ODI series opener by 1 wicket and pulled off the ropes from the jaws of defeat in Dhaka. They continued to stick to the same winning formula in the second ODI at the same venue.

Much to everyone’s surprise, Bangladesh scripted yet another win over India and won the series by 2-0. The Tigers won the game by 5 runs to clinch their second consecutive ODI series win against Team India at home. However, the Men in Blue scripted a huge win over the hosts in the third and final ODI in Chattogram.

KL Rahul led the team in Rohit Sharma’s absence for the dead rubber. India won the game by a massive margin of 227 runs and avoided a whitewash. Meanwhile, both teams are gearing up for the Test series opener, which will begin on December 14 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram. Shubman Gill and KL Rahul are likely to open the innings for India in the first Test match against Bangladesh. Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the Test opener due to injury. With Shubman Gill waiting in the wings, he should be getting the chance to open the innings. Gill has performed decently well as an opener in the longest format of the game.

The youngster has played 11 Tests so far, wherein he scored 579 runs at an average of 30.5. Overall, he has slammed four half-centuries to his name. The 23-year-old registered his personal best score of 91 against Australia at The Gabba. He will certainly be looking forward to doing well against Bangladesh. On the other hand, KL Rahul will be leading the team from the front in Rohit Sharma’s absence.

KL Rahul boasts a pretty good batting record as far as the ODI and T20I formats are concerned. On the other hand, he has been pretty decent in the purest format of the game. He has played 43 Tests so far, scoring 2547 runs at an average of 35.4. On the other hand, he has slammed seven centuries and 13 half-centuries to his name in Tests.
