Australian players will need NOCs from the board to play IPL 2021

The cash-rich Indian Premier League is the most-watched cricket tournament in the world. Players across top nations go under the hammer and the clubs battle it amongst each other to sign the right players. The beauty of the IPL is that players of all nations except Pakistan take part in the league. Among the foreign players, Australian players are the ones who have been in demand in the tournament.

In the last auction, Australia’s top bowler Pat Cummins became the most expensive overseas signing. Not just last time, at each and every auction, Australians earned lucrative contracts. As the fraternity inches closer to the upcoming auctions, the rumours regarding Australia and its board is doing the rounds on the internet.

Latest reports and speculations coming from Australia are suggesting that the Aussies would be needing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the board in order to go and play in the IPL. It has been learnt that the board can deny a NOC if they see any issues over health.

Meanwhile, India’s governing body, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has its plans quite clear that they want to host the league in India itself and not elsewhere. Earlier, Cricket Australia has shown some seriousness towards their concerns over the COVID-19 epidemic. It was only recently, the board cancelled their tour of South Africa owing to health concerns around the outbreak.

Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley added that they will be giving No Objection Certificates to the cricketers on one by one basis only. “We have, obviously, got precedent on that from the IPL last year. We have got, obviously, the IPL, if you like, [has] proven its biosecurity protocols. As and when applications are made, we will consider each of those case-by-case, on their merits,” Nick Hockley said as quoted by The New Indian Express.

Meanwhile, a plethora of international cricketers from the Australian team are in massive demand of the lucrative Indian Premier League. It is cognisance of the fact that star players like Glenn Maxwell, Pat Cummins, David Warner played a lot of games in the IPL. They are in huge demand in the IPL.

However, this time around, many cricketers will go under the hammer. This latest information will make the franchises think whether they want to go for the Australian players or not. Needless to say, it is still not certain how many Australian players will take part in this year’s IPL.
