Ravi Shastri reckons CSK made a mistake by parting ways with Faf du Plessis
Chennai Super Kings are currently languishing at the bottom of this season’s points table. They are yet to open their account this season as they lost four games on the trot. The defending champions surrendered at the hands of KKR, LSG, PBKS and SRH.
They will cross swords with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the next game that is scheduled to be held tomorrow. CSK will be looking forward to getting off the mark against Faf du Plessis-led RCB.
Meanwhile, former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri feels CSK might have a mistake in releasing Faf du Plessis ahead of the auction. Earlier, CSK retained MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali. At the same time, they had to take bold decisions by releasing top players from their arsenal.

Meanwhile, former India head coach Ravi Shastri said things could have been different for CSK altogether if they had Faf du Plessis in their squad. Royal Challengers Bangalore secured the services of former CSK man for Rs 7 crore.
The former Proteas captain took charge as RCB captain and has led the team quite well so far this season. RCB are currently fourth on the points table as they secured 3 wins from four games. They have a net run rate of +0.294.
“I feel that someone like Jadeja, he should focus on his own game. If Chennai were to think back, they wouldn’t have let go of Faf du Plessis. He is a match-winner, he has won the IPL with Chennai, he has a lot of experience.,” Shastri said during a chat with ESPNcricinfo.
Shastri is of the opinion that Faf du Plessis should have been given the captaincy if Dhoni was planning to step down as captain. “If Dhoni was thinking of giving up the captaincy, then Faf should have been given the job, and Jadeja should have continued as [just] a player. He would have played freely, without the pressure of captaincy. Things could have been different for Chennai then,” he added further.
