WATCH – Mark Wood does a hilarious ‘solo huddle’ after being left out of the team huddle

England fast bowler Mark Wood left everyone in splits with a solo huddle on day 2 of the opening Test match against West Indies in Antigua.

Meanwhile, after a small break, the English cricketers were back in the huddle to get charged up for the upcoming spell of play. However, they didn’t release that Mark Wood was not in the huddle and went ahead with it.

Wood was on the other side of the field and he soon realised that he won’t be part of the huddle and conducted a solo huddle at the fine-leg region. The turn of events left the commentators and fans in splits. Mark Wood also saw the funny side of it and enacted a one-man meeting.

The video has gone viral on social media and has been shared many times ever since it landed on the internet.

Meanwhile, speaking of the game, hosts West Indies are well-placed at 202/4 in reply to England’s 311 in the first innings at the end of day 2. Kraigg Brathwaite and John Campbell gave the Islanders a good start before Craig Overton and Mark Wood helped the visitors to peg back, dismissing both openers.

West Indies lost two more wickets in quick succession but Jason Holder and Nkrumah Bonner forged a crucial partnership to ensure a safe passage till the end of the day’s play.

Wood, who was the pick of the bowlers for England, admitted that not having the legendary duo of Anderson and Broad feels a bit weird. However, he asserted that the bowlers are putting in the extra yards to nullify the void.

“We maybe tried a little bit too hard, with the void of Anderson and Broad we wanted to try hard and prove we could do it. Of course, it’s weird [without them]. It’s obviously going to be talked about because they are legends. But we just have to admit we didn’t get it right to start with and we’ll be out to get it right next time. We were all a bit inconsistent, we didn’t get our lengths quite right and we were a little bit too full or too short. But actually, I thought we came back really well,” Wood was quoted as saying by the Guardian.

Mark Wood will hope to continue the good work as England look to bundle out West Indies as early as possible and then post a big target on the board to put them on the back foot.
