Deepak Chahar discloses he would like to play for Rajasthan Royals if Chennai Super Kings failed to buy me

Chennai Super Kings are one of the most successful clubs in the history of the IPL. They were the champions of the previous edition of the IPL. CSK got the better of two-time IPL champions, Kolkata Knight Riders to win the fourth title.

The defending champions have signed as many as 25 players at the mega auction in Bangalore. CSK retained Ravindra Jadeja for Rs 16 crore, captain MS Dhoni for Rs 12 crore, Moeen Ali for Rs 8 crore and Ruturaj Gaikwad for Rs 6 crore ahead of the mega auction.

CSK went all out to recruit the services of their bowling all-rounder Deepak Chahar at the auction. Deepak Chahar was sold to CSK for Rs 14 crore, thus becoming the expensive bowler at the auction. Moreover, he is also the second-most expensive player at CSK behind Ravindra Jadeja.

There will be quite a lot of expectations from Deepak Chahar given his whopping price tag. He will certainly be under pressure in the next season. More importantly, he will look to thrive under pressure, which is the only way forward for him and for the franchise.

If not for Chennai Super Kings, I would like to play for Rajasthan Royals: Deepak Chahar

Deepak Chahar was involved in an intense bidding war involving Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC). CSK won the bidding battle by signing him for Rs 14 crore.

Meanwhile, Deepak Chahar revealed a team that he would like to play for, if not for Chennai Super Kings. It is none other than Rajasthan Royals. “had CSK failed to buy me in the Mega Auction, I would’ve liked to play for Rajasthan Royals,” said Chahar while speaking on Sports Yaari.

After the auction, during a chat on Star Sports, Deepak Chahar echoed, “I wanted to play for CSK because I haven’t imagined myself playing in another colour than yellow. At one point, I thought it (the bid price) was too much.

As a CSK player, I also want to build a good team. So after they spent ₹13 crores, I actually wanted the bidding to stop so I can go to CSK quickly, and then we can buy some other players (with the money saved).”
