WATCH: Virat Kohli and James Anderson engage in heated exchange of words

There were times when young Virat Kohli got bullied by other cricketers on the field. However, what we heard before was only one side of the story. There were also countless occasions when Kohli literally gave it back to them in a sensational fashion.

James Faulkner, Mitchell Johnson, Kesrick Williams tried to ruffle Virat Kohli’s feathers. But little did they know what would happen when they messed with Kohli. The run-machine has ensured to give it back in style by letting his bat do the talking.

The ones who confronted Kohli must have already learnt their lessons by now. Case in point, the Indian captain Virat Kohli made the headlines once again during the second Test at the Lord’s. Tempers amplified between Kohli and James Anderson during the game.

The incident took place during the first session of Day 4 of the ongoing Test. During the second innings, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma failed to deliver the goods. The onus was on Virat Kohli to fire and lay a strong foundation. Earlier, the skipper came under fire for his poor form.

He got out for a duck in the first Test against England. Coming to the second Test, he scored 42 in the first innings. The skipper got off to a positive start before nudging at a wide Sam Curran’s delivery to leave his team in big trouble before lunch.

However, during the 17th over of India’s second innings, Kohli had a war of words with Anderson. Soon after Anderson delivered the fourth ball of the over, a drama unfolded between the duo. The Indian captain cited that James Anderson was apparently running on the danger zone of the pitch.

However, this didn’t go down well with the veteran England pacer who tried to say something at Kohli. Meanwhile, Kohli didn’t keep mum as he sledged Anderson by saying, “You swearing at me again, are you? This isn’t your fu**ing backyard.”

Even the English paceman came up with a few words in between. After the completion of the fifth ball, the Indian skipper continued to have a go at the pacer. Kohli said: “chirp chirp chirp. This is what old age makes you.”
