5 players RR could retain ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction

Rajasthan Royals (RR) were the champions of the inaugural edition of the IPL by beating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the showdown. However, they have long been waiting to lift their second title. They reached the second IPL final in the 2022 edition under Sanju Samson’s captaincy.

Unfortunately, they fell short against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the high-profile encounter. RR are still a formidable force in the tournament. In the last season, they showcased their consistency by qualifying for the playoffs, finishing third on the points table.

They managed to knock Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) out of the competition but fell short against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the playoffs. RR’s think-tank will look to retain five players to build a competitive squad going forward in the next season.

1. Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson has been the heart and soul of Rajasthan Royals through and through. He is a three-dimensional asset to the team as he leads the team, keeps the wickets and scores runs for the team. Samson holds a plethora of experience in the truncated version of the game.

He can play pace and spin equally well and is best known for his ability to anchor the innings, which makes him a vital player in pressure situations. His leadership skills have matured over the years and will be looking forward to giving his best to the team to end the title drought.

Sanju Samson has been a part of the IPL since 2013. Overall, Yes played 168 games wherein he scored 4419 runs at an average of 30.7 and an impressive strike rate of 139. Notably, he smashed 3 centuries and 25 half centuries in his stellar IPL career.
