5 players RCB could retain ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) remain one of the top IPL teams who are yet to secure a title since the inception of the IPL. Despite boasting some of the biggest names, RCB lacked the killer instinct to deliver the sucker punches in the showdowns in the past.

They had to settle for being runners-up in 2009, 2011 and 2016 editions. In the 2023 season, they made it to the playoffs but lost to Rajasthan Royals in the playoffs. When the franchise head into the 2025 season, RCB fans will be curious to see if the team can finally break the jinx and lift the trophy.

For sure, they will have to take some bold calls in a bid to bolster their franchise. Here are five players RCB could retain ahead of the mega auction.

1. Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli is the heartbeat of RCB and without the shadow of a doubt, the franchise will likely retain him not just for his batting prowess but also for his plethora of experience and the emotional connection he shares with the franchise and its ardent fans.

The 35-year-old seasoned cricketer is the leading run scorer in the history of the IPL. Having been a part of the IPL since 2008, he has played 237 matches and scored 7263 runs at an average of 37.25 and a strike rate of 130.16. Overall, he hammered 7 centuries and 50 half centuries to his name.
