Suryakumar Yadav suffers ankle injury; set to Afghanistan T20Is
In a big blow, Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav is all set to remain out of action for almost two months due to an ankle injury, which he suffered recently while fielding in the third T20I match against South Africa.
According to a report in Indian Express, the No.1 T20I batter has suffered a Gear-II tear in his ankle, which will require seven weeks to heal. It means he will miss the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan.
“He will take some time to recover. He will have to report to the National Cricket Academy later to do his rehabilitation. He is surely going to miss the Afghanistan series,” a BCCI official told Indian Express.
The Afghanistan series will be the last T20I series for Team India before the much-anticipated T20 World Cup 2024. The management would want to play a full-fledged playing XI and fix the gaps.

Suryakumar Yadav is still bossing the T20 format
Despite having a mediocre performance in the ODI World Cup 2023, Suryakumar Yadav bounced back in the format he is known for. He smashed a record 4th T20I century against the Proteas and was also adjudged the Man of the Series.
Suryakumar is expected to return to action in the IPL 2024, where he will be a key batter for Mumbai Indians (MI) once again. It will be interesting to see how he performs in the cash-rich league as he is a vital part of the Indian team in the T20I setup.
