IPL 2023: 3 bowlers Mumbai Indians (MI) could sign to replace Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah underwent surgery which will keep him out of action for a couple of months.
In a major blow to Mumbai Indians, their ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the upcoming season because of his back injury. Mumbai Indians’ fans hoped to finally watch the deadly combo of Bumrah and Jofra Archer bowling together. However, the Indian pacer failed to recover in time as he had to undergo surgery.
Now, the five-time champions will once again have to reshuffle their plans and find a suitable replacement. While there are not many quality options available in the market, the five-time champions will try to find the best from the available pacers. Hence, in this post, we will look at the top three pacers Mumbai Indians (MI) could sign to replace Jasprit Bumrah.
3. Dhawal Kulkarni
In search of experience, Mumbai Indians could look towards Dhawal Kulkarni. The 34-year-old has a ton of experience playing in Indian conditions. Furthermore, he has played domestic cricket for Mumbai all his life, hence, he knows how to bowl at the Wankhede.
Dhawal Kulkarni was a part of the MI squad last season as well. He was signed as the replacement for an injured bowler. The right-arm pacer has bagged 86 wickets in 92 IPL matches at an economy rate of 8.31. Dhawal is also a proven performer with the new ball in the powerplay.
Hence, given the lack of options, the veteran pacer could be a decent signing for Mumbai Indians. However, Dhawal Kulkarni hasn’t played much cricket in the last year and it could prove to be a roadblock for the Blues.
