IND vs AUS 2022: “Forget World Cup” – Furious fans bash Team India after a dismal bowling performance
Another day and another failure of the bowling unit. Yes, bowling was difficult in the second phase, there was an ample amount of dew but one can not make these excuses at this level. The very problem that haunted Men in Blue in the Asia Cup 2022, persisted against Australia as well. The Indian death bowling crumbled under pressure once again to surrender the game to the visitors as Australia chased a massive target of 209 to win the first T20I of the three-match series.
On Tuesday evening, India and Australia locked horns in the first game of the three-match T20I series at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali. The Australian captain Aaron Finch invited Rohit Sharma & Co. to bat first after winning the toss. His bowlers backed his decision as they managed to remove the Hitman and Virat Kohli inside the powerplay. However, KL Rahul got his groove back and he alongside Suryakumar Yadav stitched a vital partnership of 68 runs off 42 deliveries.
However, both KL and SKY fell in quick succession followed by Axar Patel and Dinesh Karthik. The all-rounder Hardik Pandya took the centre stage at that moment to smoke unbeaten 71 runs off just 30 deliveries. In the end, Team India posted a massive total of 208/6 in 20 overs.
Bowlers fail to defend the total once again
Australia made an explosive start to the chase as the all-rounder Cameron Green alongside the skipper Aaron Finch added 39 runs off 21 deliveries for the first wicket. Australia were cruising to the total at one point in time but Axar Patel brought the hosts back in the game with a brilliant spell of bowling. With half of the Aussie batting back in the hut, it was India’s game to lose. However, Indian bowlers once again failed in the death as Matthew Wade and Tim David clinch the game for Australia. In the end, the visitors completed the chase with four wickets in hand and four balls to spare.
Every Indian bowler except Axar Patel proved costly on the night. The pace duo of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Harshal Patel was wayward at the death as India surrendered the game. The fans were furious with the Indian bowling efforts and bashed them mercilessly.
