The South African batter shot to instant fame owing to the similarities between his batting style and his legendary countryman AB de Villiers. Who is Dewald Brevis’ Father?

On the 29th of April, 2003, Dewald Brevis took birth in Johannesburg. His father’s name is Jack Brevis and his mother’s name is Yolanda Brevis. Jack is a cricket enthusiast, hence, he prepared a cricket pitch in their backyard for Dewald and his elder brother Reinard to learn and practice the game.

In the absence of Reinard, Dewald’s mom, Yolanda, used to bowl to him. It was the support he received from his parents that helped Dewald Brevis to achieve that much at such a young age. In 2022, he became one of the youngest foreign players to participate in the Indian Premier League as the right-handed batter represented Mumbai Indians.

Does Dewald Brevis have any relation with AB de Villiers?

No. Dewald Brevis does not have any relation with AB de Villiers. The youngster idolizes the legendary batter and shares a similar batting style to him. Moreover, he also wears jersey number 17 just like AB de Villiers. Dewald Brevis took the jersey number after taking permission from Mr. 360 only. For a fun fact, Brevis also went to the same school as AB did. He and ABD are the alumni of the same school, Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool (Affies), Pretoria. Dewald Brevis shattered numerous records during the mega-event, including the most runs in a single edition. The right-handed batter amassed 506 runs in 6 games and surpassed Shikhar Dhawan’s record of 505 runs in a single edition in 2004.

Furthermore, he also faced the most number of deliveries, 561, during a single competition. The right-handed batter also broke the record of smashing the most number of maximums in a single tournament after hitting 18 sixes. He also etched his name by scoring five fifty-plus scores during the U19 World Cup 2019. He now holds the record alongside India’s Shubhman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan.
