Ahead of Rajasthan Royals’ meeting with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2nd Qualifier of the Indian Premier League 2022, the all-rounder Daryl Mitchell has left the team’s bio-bubble to join the New Zealand team in England for the upcoming test series scheduled to take place from the 2nd of June to the 23rd of June.

The all-rounder will be a part of the Kiwi side in the practice game against the First Class Counties XI in Chelmsford ahead of the Test series. Meanwhile, his fellow countrymen, Trent Boult and Jimmy Neesham will continue their IPL journey with the Royals from Rajasthan and will be a part of the 2nd Qualifier.

Rajasthan Royals thank Daryl Mitchell for his contribution

In an official video shared by Rajasthan Royals, the Director of Cricket, Kumar Sangakkara thanked Mitchell for his contribution to the franchise throughout the season.

“Daryl has been with us right from the start, he’s been an exceptional part of our group. He’s done a huge amount for us in terms of energy, being the character that he is, helping out, supporting, playing, fielding, and getting to know each of us,” said Kumar Sangakkara.

“So we have asked everyone from the start to give a little bit of themselves to the group and Daryl has done an amazing job for us, very thankful, and grateful for you to join us. We are unbelievably happy about your contribution to the unit on the journey so far. We also wish you very well for the series against England. There’s a practice game on the 26th, we’ll be watching, we’ll be supporting. Once a Royal, always a Royal,” Kumar Sangakkara concluded.

Daryl Mitchell played two games for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2022 but he had been with them since the beginning of the tournament.

Before departing for the UK, the Kiwi all-rounder wished his team the best and felt bad for leaving the franchise at such a crucial stage in the competition. However, he added that he will be looking forward to lifting the trophy via a video call.

“Thanks, everybody. It’s obviously sad to leave at such a crucial time but I will be definitely watching (the game) and look forward to the video call of (the team) lifting up the trophy,” said Daryl Mitchell before departing.
