Boria Majumdar banned by the BCCI for two years in Wriddhiman Saha case
On Wednesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) slapped the cricket journalist Boria Majumdar with a two-year ban for intimidating the veteran wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha.
The major development was confirmed by ANI with a tweet. “BCCI issues order to ban journalist Boria Majumdar for two years for intimidating cricketer Wriddhiman Saha,” it tweeted.

The controversy was sparked when the Indian wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha shared the screenshots of messages on February 23. In these screenshots, a journalist was threatening Saha for an interview. However, the Bengal-born cricketer didn’t reveal the indentity of the journalist.
Later, the reputed cricket journalist Boria Majumdar came ahead and revealed himself as the ‘mentioned-journalist’ in the case. However, he also added that the screenshots are altered and all the allegations against him are fake. Furthermore, Muajumdar also threatened Saha with a legal suit for defamation.
Understanding the seriousness of situation, the apex body formed a three-member committee, including vice-president Rajeev Shukla, treasurer Arun Dhumal and Apex Council member Prabhtej Bhatia to investigate the matter.

Both parties, including Saha and Majumdar appeared before the investigating commitee last month and presented their respective cases. However, the committee has found Boria Majumdar guilty and they have slapped a two years ban on him.
The two year ban against Majumdar include:
– Banned from getting accreditation as a member of the press in any match (domestic or international) in India
– Banned from getting any interviews with registered players in India
– Banned from access to any of BCCI or member association-owned cricket facilities.
As far as Wriddhiman Saha is concerned, the wicketkeeper-batter is currently representing Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2022. The right-handed batter has been opening for the team and looked in good touch so far.
He has scored 154 runs in 5 matches at an average of 30.80 at a strike rate of 128.33.
