3 teams that can target Cameron Green in IPL 2023 auction
Cameron Green was impressive in the recently concluded T20I series against India.
On the India tour, Australia have found a new superstar in young all-rounder Cameron Green. The 6.5-tall guy is the new superstar in the making as he left his mark for the Aussies on the vital Indian tour. In fact, he was so impressive the defending world champions are contemplating including him in the T20 World Cup 2022 squad.
Acting as a makeshift opener in the absence of David Warner, Cameron Green blasted 61 runs off 30 deliveries in the first T20I. Furthermore, he also bagged one wicket with the ball as well. In the 2nd game, he was unlucky to get run out but he made amendments by smoking a 19-ball fifty in the third game. Cameron Green didn’t get any wickets in the three overs he bowled in the third game but he was pretty economical courtesy of the extra bounce he was extracting because of his height.
While the world took notice of the young all-rounder’s prowess, IPL franchises must have done the same. In the Indian Premier League, a quality all-rounder is always worth gold. With the auction for the IPL not too many months away, there are a few franchises that will aggressively bid for the all-rounder. In this post, we will take a look at the top three teams that can target Cameron Green in the IPL 2023 auction.
1. Royal Challengers Bangalore
With Mike Hesson in charge of the proceedings at the franchise, it won’t be surprising if Royal Challengers Bangalore run after the young all-rounder. The Bangalore-based franchise has always had special likings for the Aussie players as Hesson is an Australian himself and he has already signed Glenn Maxwell and Josh Hazlewood for the franchise.
Furthermore, the Bangalore-based franchise is in search of an explosive opener to partner with Faf du Plessis at the top. Virat Kohli had to open alongside his skipper last year but the franchise would want him to return to his natural batting position to beef up the middle order. Cameron Green’s addition to RCB will add some serious firepower to their star-studded line-up and the move will make a ton of sense for both parties.

2. Rajasthan Royals
The Royals from Rajasthan have a knack for going after expensive all-rounders at every IPL auction. Things are likely to be the same this time around as well. As far as things are concerned, the Rajasthan Royals missed a quality all-rounder among their ranks during IPL 2022. They constantly played with six batters and five bowlers during the last season.
If the Rajasthan Royals indeed sign a quality all-rounder like Cameron Green, it will make their already strong unit even stronger. Rajasthan Royals used to have Shane Watson in their ranks, and all they have been missing in the last few seasons is an all-rounder of his caliber.
3. Sunrisers Hyderabad
If there is a team in the Indian Premier League that currently needs a player of the quality of Cameron Green, it is none other than Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Orange Army let go of Mitchell Marsh ahead of IPL 2022 and failed to sign a quality replacement at the auction. Furthermore, Kane Williamson failed to uplift the team from the top in the absence of David Warner.
Cameron Green will add a ton of balance to Sunrisers Hyderabad as Kane Williamson could bat at number three to add solidity to the batting unit. Furthermore, Green’s pace bowling could be very effective on Hyderabad’s surface. In all probability, Sunrisers Hyderabad will go after the Aussie all-rounder in the auction ahead of IPL 2023.
