3 reasons why Ruturaj Gaikwad is a better T20I cricketer than Shubman Gill
2. Ruturaj Gaikwad’s consistency puts him above Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill, who is seen as the next big thing in Indian cricket lacked the cutting edge to deliver in T20Is, despite having the tenacity to do well in ODIs and Tests. The youngster hasn’t had the best of starts when it comes to the shortest format of the game and has often fell behind in T20Is.
He averages 27.1 in T20Is, mustering 434 runs including 1 century and 2 fifties. On the other end of the spectrum, Ruturaj Gaikwad has shown consistency in the shortest format, particularly in the IPL and in international cricket. He averages close to 40 in international cricket and 41.8 in the IPL.
3. Ruturaj Gaikwad beats Shubman Gill in conversion rate
Gaikwad boasts a better higher strike rate and terrific scoring ability in T20Is, which is quite significant in the shortest format as scoring runs at a rate of knots are required. On the other hand, Gill, while technically sound, hasn’t had the same level of aggression and scoring rate in T20Is.
Shubman Gill might not have showcased his impressive best in T20Is but he is indeed one of the best young world-class batters in the other two formats. The 24-year-old who has played only 17 T20Is for India, is expected to get better over time.
