1. Devdutt Padikkal
Rajasthan Royals went all out for the youngster in the auction for IPL 2022 and broke the bank by shelling out INR 7.75 crore to sign Devdutt Padikkal. However, the left-handed southpaw played most of his games out of his natural opening position at number three and looked out of sorts there despite scoring runs.
Devdutt Padikkal got a bit stuck against the spinners after the powerplay. The Karnataka batter had an underwhelming strike rate of 122.87 in the IPL 2022. Furthermore, the rise of Yashasvi Jaiswal last year means Devdutt Padikkal won’t get a chance at the top in the IPL 2023.
With Sanju Samson at number three, the Rajasthan Royals could look to sign a quality number four player to add more balance to their playing XI. Devdutt Padikkal has many admirers out there and the Rajasthan Royals are bound to receive many queries for the left-hander in the trading window. Meanwhile, it won’t be a surprise if the inaugural season champions trade Padikkal ahead of IPL 2023.
