Srikar Bharat is the most realistic opening option for Team India at the moment. The inclusion of Bharat in the playing XI won’t disturb India’s middle-order equation.

Moreover, the wicketkeeper-batter looked in decent touch during India’s warm-up game against Leicestershire.

The right-handed batter scored 113 runs across two innings of the practice match, including a knock of unbeaten 70 runs in the first innings. KS Bharat managed to score 43 runs while opening the batting in the 2nd innings in the absence of Rohit Sharma.
