Abhishek Sharma announced his arrival in the cricket fraternity with his batting exploits in IPL 2024. He brought the best version out of himself by scoring runs at a rate of knots for Sunrisers Hyderabad. The 23-year-old mustered 484 runs in 16 games at a strike rate of 204.22 including three fifties.
The young prospect showcased his potential to capitalize on the powerplay overs with a fearless brand of cricket. Rightly so, he was duly rewarded with a national call-up. The Amritsar-born will look to justify his selection right in his debut T20I series by excelling at the top of the order.
3. Washington Sundar
Washington Sundar has been a valuable all-rounder for Team India in T20Is. He is best for his economical off-spin bowling coupled with capable lower-order batting. Unfortunately, he has had to deal with multiple injuries in recent times which hampered his cricketing progress.
However, he certainly has a point to prove by making his presence count as a bowling all-rounder in the upcoming T20I series. Ravindra Jadeja retired from T20Is whereas Axar Patel has been rested. Meanwhile, Sundar could use the series as a perfect opportunity to cement a spot in India’s XI.
