The 21 years old Tamil Nadu all-rounder has shown promise in the few samples of Test matches he has played so far. He broke into India’s Test team as a forced changed on the Australian tour earlier in the year. But both the batting and bowling skills he displayed in his debut match against the mighty Australians, earned him a spot in the remaining 3 matches against England. Although he came into the side as a bowling all-rounder, he has impressed everyone more with his batting skills.

In the only match he played against Australia, he scored his first fifty and also stitched a crucial partnership with Shardul which eventually turned out to be a match-defining one. Also, against England in the last match, Virat didn’t throw the ball at him, he contributed with the bat once again at a critical point when Indians were placed in a very fragile position.

He stood up to the occasion, soaked the pressure and in the end earned heaps of praises from both the skippers- Virat Kohli and Joe Root. Still, in the nascent stage of his career, it is almost certain that he will be left out of the final XI until another injury bound issues hover around the Indian camp.
