Team India have turned out to be a formidable force under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. The fact that they won 14 games in a row under his full-time duty goes to show how hard they have worked on the field and behind the scenes. The team is in upbeat mode across formats. Earlier, they got off to a terrific start to the Test series against Sri Lanka.

Rohit Sharma registered his first win as captain as India won the opening Test by an innings and 222 runs in Mohali. After making a statement in the first Test, the hosts went on to perform quite well in the second and final Test. Although India failed to live up to their reputation in the first innings, they made a comeback in the second innings.

Earlier, India won the toss and opted to bat first. They were skittled out for 252 in the first innings. Shreyas Iyer was the lone performer for the hosts as he scored 92 in the first innings. In reply, Sri Lanka didn’t fight back despite a good bowling show. The visitors were bowled out for 109.

Virat Kohli’s prediction comes true in Bengaluru Test

There were a lot of expectations from Virat Kohli in the pink-ball Test match. However, he failed to up the ante after being dismissed for 23 and 13 respectively. India scored 303/9 (declared) in the second innings. During the third day of the pink-ball Test, Sri Lanka resumed the innings with 45/1.

India’s veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin provided a crucial breakthrough on the third day as he got rid of Kusal Mendis for 54, stumped by Rishabh Pant. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli, in the next over was caught on stump mic chanting ayega ayega (Translation: wickets will come).

Kohli was seen chanting this while patrolling at first slip. Rohit Sharma brought Ravindra Jadeja into the attack in the 21st over. He made an instant impact with the bat as he castled Angelo Mathews’ stumps with a straight ball. Sri Lanka could score 208 in the run-chase and lost the game by 238 runs.
