India’s flamboyant cricketer Rohit Sharma is one of the terrific fielders without any doubt. Time and again, he has taken stunning catches across formats. Apart from that, he has also taken superb catches in the cash-rich Indian Premier League.

The 34-year-old stalwart has taken 34 catches in Tests, 78 catches in ODIs and 41 catches in T20Is. As far as his statistics in IPL is concerned, he has taken 89 catches. Rohit Sharma hardly drops a catch and it is fair to say, he is one of the best in taking catches at slip.

The veteran cricketer surprised everyone by taking a scintillating catch at second slip during the fourth Test match against England at The Oval. The incident took place on Day 2 of England’s innings when Dawid Malan tried to middle Umesh Yadav’s full delivery.

England resumed the gameplay on Day 2 with 55/3. Earlier, they lost three wickets as the batsmen fell prey to Indian seamers. Jasprit Bumrah provided an early breakthrough by getting rid of Rory Burns. After that, he went on to dismiss Haseeb Hameed.

Umesh Yadav stunned the in-form batsman Joe Root with a gem of a delivery. The ball beat Root all ends up as it went between his bat and the pads and hit the off-stump. Coming to Day 4, Dawid Malan and Craig Overton resumed the innings.

Umesh Yadav provided an early breakthrough by getting rid of Overton. The right-arm fast bowler entered the grand scheme of things and took another wicket to make his comeback worthwhile. He dismissed Dawid Malan in the 25th over and Rohit’s catch was just icing on the cake.

The 34-year-old pacer pitched a good length delivery to Malan. The southpaw was taken aback at a fraction of a second as the ball swung to some extent. As it happened, the batsman got an inside edge and the red-leather travelled towards the second slip.

Rohit Sharma, who was patrolling the second slip dived to his right to take a catch. It was indeed a tough catch but Rohit made it look so easy by taking it in safe pair of hands. Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul surrounded Rohit and hugged him for his fabulous effort.
