Watch: Mohammad Amir throws ball away in anger after getting hit for a boundary by Babar Azam

Peshawar Zalmi won the tense encounter by two runs.

It was a tense build-up for the second game of the Pakistan Super League 2023 between Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi. The new skipper of Peshawar Zalmi, Babar Azam was up against his former team and his former teammates, including Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir, targeted the Pakistan skipper for his conservative batting style.

However, Babar Azam answered his critics with the bat and scored a brilliant half-century. During the game, he also faced the left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir and took a liking to his bowling. As expected, the tension was bound to get high and in such one instance, Mohammad Amir lost his cool after getting hit for a boundary by Babar Azam and threw the ball away in anger.

On Tuesday evening, Peshawar Zalmi locked horns with Karachi Kings in the second game of the PSL 2023. Karachi Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first. Their decision soon proved right as they scalped two quick wickets inside the first two overs. However, the skipper Babar Azam alongside Tom Kohler Cadmore launched a counter-attack.

Mohammad Amir loses his cool after Babar Azam smashes him for a four

The left-arm pacer bowled to Babar in the final over of the powerplay. On the 5th ball of the over, Babar Azam flicked a leg-side delivery from Amir for a beautiful boundary. The speedster was clearly frustrated after conceding a four.

On the very next delivery, Babar defended a good length delivery back to the bowler. Mohammad Amir gathered the delivery in his follow-through and threw the ball aimed at the stumps. However, the ball wasn’t properly aimed and it missed the mark by a long way as the wicketkeeper gathered the ball.

In the end, it turned out to be a nail-biting contest as Peshawar Zalmi won the game by two runs. Imad Wasim and Shoaib Malik did try with the bat but they agonizingly fell short. It wasn’t a good game for Mohammad Amir as he spent 42 runs in his four-over spell without a wicket.
