WATCH: ICC releases T20 World Cup anthem; leaves cricket fans in awe

The much-anticipated tournament will begin on October 17.

The ICC T20 World Cup is less than a month away from its start in the UAE and Oman. The marquee tournament starts on October 17 and comes to a climax on November 14. Meanwhile, several cricket teams have been actively playing as many T20Is in the build-up to the upcoming ICC event.

At the moment, the cricket fraternity is relishing the taste of IPL flavour. The world’s most-watched domestic T20 tournament comes to a close on October 15 in Dubai. After that, the fans would get glued to their TV sets to catch the T20 World Cup.

Ahead of the tournament, the International Cricket Council did something interesting to leave the avid fans in awe. The apex cricket body unveiled the new T20 World Cup anthem and the video clip of the same has spread like wildfire on the internet portals.

Bollywood music director Amit Trivedi composed the anthem that looks appealing to the fans. The fans from all across the world liked the animated version. The clip features young fans globally. It features some of the cricketing superstars.

The superstars in the video include the likes of Virat Kohli, Kieron Pollard, Glenn Maxwell and Rashid Khan. The animation comprises a brand-new broadcast technology that combines both 3D and 2D effects to create the film.

“There is something magical and special about putting on the West Indies jersey and stepping onto the field,” said West Indies captain Pollard.

“This upcoming World Cup will give us more special moments. We know our fans will be fully engaged, watching, and supporting and we want to give them plenty to cheer about,” he added.

Meanwhile, Claire Furlong, ICC General Manager, Marketing and Communications said: “Cricket has more than a billion fans around the world, and we wanted to put our young fans in the heart of the action alongside their heroes and allow them to live the game.”

The T20 World Cup 2021 opener will take place on October 17. Oman will lock horns with T20 World Cup debutants Papua New Guinea at Muscat’s Oman Cricket Academy. West Indies are the most successful team in this tournament as they won 2 trophies.
