Team India have always been a nation that don’t rely on individuals to dictate the terms in the passage of play. Their biggest key to success is that they operate as a collective force to churn out results in their favour. However, even with a strong unit, they failed to decode the nuances of New York pitch.

The majority of the players found it literally tough to assess the conditions. The New York pitch was heavily criticized after a number of low-scoring affairs. India will take on the co-hosts USA in the next game on June 12, Wednesday at the same venue. It remains to be seen how India will break the shackles and come out on top on a testing track.

3. Virat Kohli’s form factor

Virat Kohli finished the IPL 2024 season as the leading run scorer with 741 runs in 15 appearances at an average of 61.75, laced with 5 fifties and a century and deservedly won the Orange Cap. However, his current form in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 is certainly a worrying sign for Team India.

While he was able to maintain calmness, composure and aggression as an opener in IPL 2024, he failed to turn up the ante in the last two games of T20 World Cup. He was dismissed for cheap scores where he scored 1 against Ireland and 4 runs against Pakistan.
