T20 World Cup 2022: 3 issues India need to sort out before their game against Pakistan
If not fixed, these areas could hurt India in their battle against Pakistan.
2. Axar Patel as the left-handed batter in the middle-order
Ravindra Jadeja’s presence in the playing XI gave India immense balance and flexibility in the batting order. India could use him as per the match situation and slot him at any batting number from four to seven as per the match situation.
Axar Patel will now fill Jadeja’s shoes in India’s XI in the mega-event. Undoubtedly, Axar Patel is a bowling upgrade on Ravindra Jadeja. However, the same can’t be said about his batting even though he showed what he is capable of doing with the bat.
Now, the question arises if the team management trusts him enough to handle the pressure situation with the bat. Pakistan have one left-arm spinner and one leg-spinner in their bowling attack. At the same time, India have six right-handed batters in their top six. Axar is the only left-hand option in the playing XI at the moment. Should India look towards Rishabh Pant as another left-handed option?
