Former India cricketer S Sreesanth has picked veteran batter Virat Kohli as India’s X-factor for the upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa, commencing on December 26 at SuperSport Park, Centurion.
Sreesanth highlighted Kohli’s constant hunger to perform on big occasions and also his ability to not take success in an egoistic manner. Alongside Kohli, the former pacer also picked KL Rahul as a potential X-factor.
“Virat Kohli loves to keep proving, rather than to anybody but to himself. I think he’s that cricketer who actually plays with that pride and he takes that pride in a very good way, not in an egoistic way. So pride for me, and for Virat also I’m sure it’s like personal responsibility in delivering excellence. So, I will go with Virat and KL Rahul,” Sreesanth told Firstpost.
Virat Kohli to feature in T20 World Cup 2024?
The fans will have to wait to see Virat Kohli back in action as he isn’t part of India’s squad for the white-ball series. He formally requested BCCI to skip the T20I and ODI series, which was granted by the organisation.
Surprisingly, the 35-year-old is yet to feature in a T20I match after the semi-final loss against England in the 2022 T20 World Cup. With the next edition of the T20 World Cup approaching, he should be playing as many T20Is as possible.
The dark clouds over Kohli’s T20I career are expected to be clear sooner than later. Undoubtedly, he remains an important key in Team India’s batting line-up. On the big nights when the pressure will be at its peak, his experience and skills will be unparalleled.
