Countless comparisons were made between Indian Premier League and Pakistan Super League by experts, journalists and former cricketers. However, in reality, we are well aware of the fact that IPL is way beyond any other league in the world. Ever since it was established in 2008, IPL turned out to be the biggest blockbuster in the Indian cricket fraternity.

As the seasons progressed, the league got recognition worldwide and started to lure top overseas players. With that, IPL went on to become the most-watched T20 tourney in the world. It has completed 14 seasons since its inception. The league is gearing up for the fifteenth edition which is just around the corner.

Mumbai Indians are the most successful team with 5 titles. Chennai Super Kings follow next with 4 titles. Kolkata Knight Riders won 2 titles while Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals won a title each.

The upcoming season of the IPL is less than a week away from going all guns blazing. Chennai Super Kings will play against Kolkata Knight Riders in the first game on March 26 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

IPL created the market: Robin Uthappa

Meanwhile, a Pakistani journalist took to Twitter and expressed his opinion where he rated IPL below PSL in terms of worldwide popularity. He added that PSL got worldwide recognition despite starting in 2016.

“No comparison between PSL and IPL! PSL started in 2016 while IPL inaugurated in 2008. However one has to admit PSL gained worldwide popularity more quicker in an era when other boards had introduced their leagues too whereas there was no competitor in the market when IPL was born,” he wrote.
