Prithvi Shaw fails Yo-Yo test at NCA ahead of IPL 2022

Young batting prodigy Prithvi Shaw has failed a yo-yo test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Shaw was recently part of a camp at BCCI’s facility recently.

The camp was organised between March 5 and 14 by Team India head coach Rahul Dravid for white ball cricketers in view with the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 scheduled to take place in Australia later this year. The camp was attended by many Indian cricketers including KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Shikhar Dhawan and Yuzvendra Chahal to name a few.

Meanwhile, the BCCI’s prescribed minimum score on the yo-yo test is supposedly 16.5 for men. However, if reports are believed to be true, Prithvi Shaw has recorded a score less than 15.

However, it doesn’t stop the celebrated cricketer to participate in IPL 2022, scheduled to commence on March 26. “These are just fitness updates. Obviously, it doesn’t stop Prithvi from playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL,” a BCCI source told PTI.

“It’s just a fitness parameter and not the be all and end all. He has played three Ranji matches back-to-back. Once you play three first-class games on the bounce, the fatigue can also affect your yo-yo score,” he added.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that all-rounder Hardik Pandya has cleared the yo-yo test and is all set to resume bowling when he sets out to lead Gujarat Titans in the 15th edition of the cash-rich league kicks off.

Prithvi Shaw to pair up with David Warner in IPL 2022

The 22-year-old batter, who was retained by the franchise ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction, is expected to pair up with David Warner at the top for Delhi Capitals.

Warner, who was left by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) after IPL 2021, was acquired by Delhi management at the auction for a whopping INR 6.25 crore. With Prithvi and Warner at the top, the Delhi franchise will boast one of the most explosive top-order in the 10-team event.
