Kolkata Knight Riders’ cricketer Nitish Rana expressed his disappointment after being snubbed for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa. India are slated to play five games against Proteas after the end of the IPL.

The ongoing edition of the IPL comes to a close on May 29. After that, Team India will be quite busy hosting Proteas for the T20I series. Senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah are rested for the series.

On the other hand, KL Rahul will lead the team from the front whereas Rishabh Pant has been named as Rahul’s deputy. The likes of Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya made a sensational return to the squad in the wake of superb performances in the IPL.

Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh who impressed the selectors with their performances in IPL received maiden call-ups. Majority of the fans expected Nitish Rana to earn a call-up as he played valuable knocks for the two-time IPL champions.

Rana has played for Team India in 2 T20Is but has failed to make an impact with the bat. The southpaw made his debut against Sri Lanka in July 2021. However, he didn’t get more opportunities since then.

He has been one of the significant run-getters for KKR in the IPL. He has featured in 91 games where he managed to score 2181 runs at an average of around 28. After he was considered for selection, he took to Twitter and wrote, “Things will change soon ????????????”
