Nitish Rana earned the spot in the Indian cricket team because of his batting potential. He made his international debut in the third ODI against Sri Lanka but managed to score just 7 runs to his name. He also made his T20I debut against Sri Lanka, playing all three games.

However, the left-handed batsman would like to quickly wipe out the memory in the wake of his disastrous performance in the series. Sri Lankans exploited India’s frailties and much to everyone’s surprise, the hosts pulled off an amazing series victory.

Batting first, India registered their third-lowest total in the history of T20Is. They could garner 81/8 in their quota of 20 overs. Ironically, Kuldeep Yadav top-scored with 23 as India managed to put up a low-scoring total. In reply, Sri Lanka won the game by 7 wickets.

They chased down the easy target in 14.3 overs. Rahul Chahar was the biggest positive for Team India as he took 3 wickets to his name. On the other hand, Wanindu Hasaranga was named the Man of the Match and the Man of the Series.

“I won’t let anything tear me down”, says Nitish Rana

Kolkata Knight Riders’ star cricketer Nitish Rana made the headlines after he posted an emotional message following India’s series defeat. Sri Lanka defeated India by 2-1 in the T20I series. Rana who scored just 6 runs in the T20I decider took to social media to express his views.

The southpaw has promised to come back stronger than ever before. “Our social media isn’t just to post victories but also our failures. This tour didn’t go the way I planned or expected it to go but I have learned so much in my last three games. Since the time I’ve held the bat in my hands, I’ve always believed in hard work over luck and this won’t stop me,” Rana posted on Twitter.

He further said, “There are people who’ll say stuff and judge me but I won’t let anything tear me down because I know how much I’ve worked for it & I’ll keep moving forward & keep going stronger and be back to win big games for myself & my team.”

Rana will be looking forward to performing well in the future. He will be back in action in the cash-rich IPL that resumes on September 19. The 27-year-old will be hoping to play well for Kolkata Knight Riders and silence the critics.
