South African all-rounder Chris Morris made the headlines when he spoke about his retirement from international cricket. The all-rounder highlighted that his players days for the South Africa national cricket team are done. His comments took us all by surprise.

The all-rounder had mentioned that he is pretty much focused on playing domestic cricket and T20 leagues. South Africa already lost its core part of its players as they ended their career at an unexpected time.

Chris Morris made it very clear that his days as a player of the Proteas team may be numbered. The veteran cricketer added that he is unlikely to declare a formal retirement. Nonetheless, he has notified Cricket South Africa (CSA) about his future and intentions. Now the cricket board is well aware of the fact that the all-rounder would no longer play for South Africa in international cricket.

“My playing days for South Africa are done. I am not one for announcing things and officially retiring and all of that. They know where I stand, I know where I stand, but my days are done for CSA, I think they know that,” Morris told Sportskeeda.

Chris Morris reveals why he didn’t announce an official retirement

The all-rounder Chris Morris gave a valid reason why he didn’t announce an official retirement from the international circuit. He explained that it is his personal decision that he didn’t make an announcement. The all-rounder said he was lucky to have represented South Africa across formats.

“There hasn’t been an official retirement because that’s not how I am, but like I said, my international cricket days are done. I am focussing on domestic cricket and giving back to the team as much as I can. I was fortunate to represent South Africa in all 3 formats, I had an opportunity to represent my country,” he added.

Morris represented South Africa in 4 Tests, 42 ODIs, and 23 T20Is for South Africa. He was last seen donning the South African outfit in the ODI World Cup in England in July 2019. “If you had asked me the same question a few months ago, I would have given you a longer answer but right now I am content with my life and my career,” he said.
